When to go to Malta

The island of Malta offers a typically Mediterranean climate similar to that of southern Italy or Greece; its seasons are characterised by hot summers and mild winters. During Malta’s summer months from June to September, expect daytime highs of 30°C, relieved only by a cooling sea breeze, or exacerbated to highs of 40°C when the sirocco winds blow in from Africa. Unlike summer, the months of October through to February face an increased risk of rainfall with the occasional thunderstorm and temperatures hovering around 20°C, warming up again in April. It is also important to note that Malta’s capital Valletta, is Europe’s warmest capital in winter.
